Q. What is a giving day?

Give BIG Green Bay is a 24-hour online giving event designed to transform the way our community thinks about and contributes to Brown County charities. This simple online giving platform, giveBIGgreenbay.org, makes it easy to learn more about the work of participating nonprofits and to donate, at any level.

Q. When is it?

Give BIG Green Bay will begin at noon on Feb 21 and end at noon on February 22, 2024.

Q. What forms of donations are accepted?

Give BIG Green Bay is an online giving event.  All major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express) are accepted and processed via Stripe, a PCI level 1 secure payment processor, at givebiggreenbay.org. PayPal is also available at checkout and processed via their independent platform. ACH is available for gift of $100 or more.

Donor-advised fundholders of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation will have the option to make contributions from their donor-advised funds to support the participating nonprofits.

Donors unable to make a gift online can hand-deliver a check to the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation office between noon on February 21 and 10:00am on February 22, 2024. Checks delivered after 10:00am on February 22th are not guaranteed to be included in the match.

Cash will not be accepted.

Q. Will I receive a receipt for tax purposes?

Yes. You will automatically receive an emailed receipt acknowledging your gift. Your tax professional can advise you on the tax deductibility of the donation.

Q. Is there a minimum gift?

There is a $10 minimum donation.

Q. May I pay a pledge with my gift?

Because Give BIG Green Bay is designed to generate new support, we are unable to accept gifts to pay off existing pledges.

Q. May I designate how a nonprofit uses my gift?

All donations made during Give BIG Green Bay are considered unrestricted gifts to the nonprofit.

Q. Is there a donation deadline?

Donations through Give BIG Green Bay begin at noon on Wednesday, February 21 and end at noon on Thursday, February 22, 2024. All on-line donations made during this timeframe qualify for matching funds.

If you miss the Give BIG Green Bay event, we encourage you to donate directly to the nonprofit of your choice. It’s important that we continue to support nonprofits year ‘round to build a thriving community.

Q. Will there be a match of my donation?

The Green Bay Packers Foundation provides a $250,000 grant to create a matching pool of funds for Give BIG Green Bay. The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation underwrites all program expenses allowing the entire $250,000 to be allocated to the participating nonprofits.

An additional $250,000 is available through the match pool and incentives this year thanks to Terry & Kris Fulwiler, Janet & Charlie Lieb, The Village Companies, Associated Bank, and other generous community donors.

At the completion of Give BIG Green Bay, the Community Foundation will determine each nonprofit’s proportionate share of the matching funds by dividing the total amount each organization raised by the total amount raised by all participating nonprofits. This amount will then be multiplied by the total amount of matching funds.

For example, if a nonprofit receives 10% of the total amount of money raised in the 24-hour period, that same organization will receive 10% of the available matching funds. The match will be calculated after transaction fees are deducted from each donation.

Both foundations reserve the right to cap a single organization’s available matching funds should the result materially outweigh those of other organizations.

Q. How much of my donation will go to the nonprofit?

All donations will be paid to the nonprofits net of the transaction and platform processing fees as outlined below.  For example, $94.20 of a $100 donation made with a credit card would go directly to the selected nonprofits. Donors have the option to cover the fees during check out on the website. The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation does not retain any fees related to Give BIG Green Bay.

GGBCF donor advised fund transactions are exempt from fees.

Transactions include a platform fee of 3.0% +
2.5% +$0.30 for credit cards donations
     1.99% +$0.49 for PayPal donations
$3.00 flat fee for ACH donations of $100 or more

Q. What if I can't find my favorite nonprofit on the website?

If the organization is not listed on the site, they are not participating in the event this year.

Q. How were the participating nonprofits selected?

All eligible nonprofit organizations met the following requirements:

  • A 501(c)(3) organization or a governmental entity
  • Primarily serve Brown County residents
  • Conduct business without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, etc.
  • Provide direct support to clients

The goal in creating the participant pool included balancing community services, reach and organizational size while also ensuring the program remains a platform for community awareness and education of the important role nonprofits play in our community.

Q. Who will receive my contact information?

The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and notify you of future activities. You can always choose to remain anonymous.

Q. What if I don't want to share my contact information?

You have the option to make your gift anonymous. If you choose this option, the nonprofits will not receive any of your personal information.

Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?

Yes! Simply visit giveBIGgreenbay.org

Q. What is a "unique donor"?

For the purposes of awarding prizes, a unique donor is one individual or corporation/business. Multiple donations from one donor to the same nonprofit will count as one gift. Organizations cannot donate to themselves.
